Sifaat associated with each of the Arabic letters.

The previous post explains each of the sifah and this post shows the Arabic letters and the sifaat (characteristics) associated with each of them. The letter Alif [ا] is always a vowel or Madd letter, alif saakin preceded by a fathah. The letters waw [و]  and yaa [ي]  serve two purposes as Madd letters, waaw saakin preceded by dhammah and yaa saakin preceded by Kasrah. They also serve as consonants just like all the other letters.

  4. Assalaam alaikum Sr,
Alhamdulillah, you found my posts informative, may Allah(swt) reward you and grant us all beneficial knowledge. I am sorry for the break in transmission on my posts, will soon resume as it appears to be of benefit to you and some others who had kindly left me comments.

As per your request, I am sorry I will not be able to produce a video and not too sure of others doing so, you can check out this link http://www.readwithtajweed.com/tajweed_Sifaat.htm The explanation of the sifaat is quite comprehensive with audio examples of the ayah where the Sifaat are being applied.

Sifaat as a topic is Advanced in Tajweed studies, if you are new to learning Tajweed, you will find it confusing as you rightly said. I suggest you leave it out for now and learn all the other rules of Tajweed if you have not already done so and come back to Sifaat. If you studied, understood and able to apply all the other rules of Tajweed and your Makhaarij are correct, the secret to sifaat is that you already are applying it, only you are not aware and you don’t have a name to it yet. But when you come to study it, it will all make sense to you. Anyway, that’s how I felt when I studied it and The teacher said it was simple, in the beginning I did not agree with her but when It all settled in, I discovered how easy it is as I already am apply it without being aware of it.

  5. assalamalaikum sister jazkallah khair fr yr reply. Yes i do realize i am already applying the sifath while reading. but i need to undesrstand more.I have been thru the website u mentioned. mashallah it is good.but my doubts still remain. for eg. where is the rikhawa in the letter ح ث ه etc. rikhawa is the running of sound. But there is no sound produced in these letters when they are joined with a hamza. what i find is running of breath. Is it possible fr u to give me a one to one lesson on skype or google only on siffath ?

  6. Assalaam alaikum sister,

If you can, try contacting some of the online lessons I listed on this link (Learning Tajweed). They should be able to provide you some information on how to help you.

    Jazakillahu khayran
